  • Is your company part of the U.S. Government? – No, ASI Global LLC is a subsidiary of Medex Global Group Inc., which is a privately held corporation.
  • Does your company pay ransoms? – Absolutely not. The decision on whether to pay a ransom or not rests with our client and they are responsible for gathering the funds.
  • Do you speak to the kidnappers? – No, as this is illegal in a number of jurisdictions and our role is as advisors only. We do help our clients identify individuals to communicate with the kidnappers and we will train and rehearse those people.
  • Do you act as loss adjusters for the insurers? – No, absolutely not. ASI Global as a team is dedicated to providing response strategies to our clients, insured or not, to enable our clients to achieve their objectives.
  • Do you act, or advise in the interests of the insurers? – No, not at all. ASI Global LLC, while exclusively retained by Travelers Syndicate 5000, acts independently of insurers and solely in the interest of the client in resolving their problem.
  • What is your success rate in resolving cases? – All of our cases have been resolved to the satisfaction of our clients.
  • Can we ensure the local authorities will not be advised? – ASI Global is able to ensure that you liaise correctly with the appropriate authorities. Should clients fail to liaise to our satisfaction, or should they decide to do something illegal, ASI Global will withdraw from the case.
  • How do we liaise with local authorities? – ASI Global will provide advice on how to liaise and with whom.
  • What is your response time? – As our consultants are regionally deployed, our ability to respond is often much quicker than a number of our competitors, and we will certainly ensure a deployed consultant within 24 hours, subject to matters within our control.
  • How soon can you get here? – We will endeavor to deploy a consultant to wherever the incident has occurred as soon as possible and will ensure a consultant is with your management team within 24 hours, subject to matters within our control.
  • How do negotiations work? – As is the case with all negotiations, one side has something or someone that the other side wants. The most important aspects of negotiations are establishing trust between the two parties, understanding the security and confidentiality requirements of both parties, and knowing that there is a mutually beneficial outcome to the situation.
  • Do you conduct negotiations? – No, as this is illegal in a number of jurisdictions and our role is as advisors only. It is the client who conducts the negotiation.
  • How independent are you? – ASI Global is 100% independent.
  • What are the backgrounds of the consultants? – The majority of our consultants are from military, law enforcement, or government service and are in their second careers, bringing immense experience to bear on a client’s problem.
  • What is ASI Global’s experience? – Collectively the team has more than 80 years of experience in resolving these types of issues and its members have contributed to the successful resolution of more than 300 cases of hostage taking.
  • What are your roles and responsibilities as a consultant? – ASI Global’s consultants will provide your management team with advice based on their own experience and incorporating information supplied by the support team in Houston and the case management process. Once contracted, ASI Global will maintain a consultant with your management team throughout the case until it is resolved.
  • Do you conduct rescue operations? – No. ASI Global’s consultants are advisers only and as such they can advise clients on the viability of rescue options put forward by local law enforcement agencies if required.
  • Do you provide the ransom or can you finance the ransom? – No, not at all. If there is a need to pay a ransom, then it is the responsibility of the client to allocate the requisite funds.
  • Where do you operate and how “international” are you? – When a client calls ASI Global’s operations’ room in Houston the ASI Global response process is activated. We will provide immediate assistance from one of our senior consultants by telephone and at the same time we will be planning the deployment of the most appropriate consultant from the nearest location within the world. ASI Global, with its regionally deployed consultants, is truly global; hence the name.
  • What are your language capabilities? – The consultants speak a number of languages between them, and ASI Global has a contracted language support company, and this combination allows ASI Global to respond to clients’ needs around the world.
  • Is this legal or ethical? – ASI Global will only work with clients who adhere to the laws of their respective countries and the laws of the location where the incident has taken place.
  • Can you guarantee success? – Hostage taking situations are extremely dynamic and are sometimes susceptible to the most minor of external factors, so guaranteeing success would be foolhardy. That said, ASI Global is quite certain that the chances of successfully resolving the situation are greatly enhanced with a response consultant deployed and advising your management team.
